Mayacalypse [my-yok-uh-lips] is a limited-edition greeting card series that commemorates the upcoming Mayan Apocalypse. The cards will be available for purchase by Spring 2012, which gives you plenty of time to send them out to your friends and family before the end of the world arrives.

Wait, what's the Mayan Apocalypse?

In case you've missed all they hype on the History Channel, the Internet, and other "reliable" sources, on December 21, 2012 the 13th cycle of the 5,125-year old Mayan calendar comes to an end, and it's apparently intent on taking the Earth down with it. Depending on who you ask, on that Friday in December our planet has a date with an epic solar flare, a black hole, or a rogue asteroid. That's why we're certain that your Mayacalypse order will be The Last Greeting Cards You Will Ever Need™.

All of our cards are letterpressed in rich, black ink on high-quality kraft cardstock. The inside of the cards are blank — providing a perfect place to share your end-of-the-world fears, regrets, and confessions. Get writing!

So did these cards ever get made?

Unfortunately, no. It's a long story. However, if you like them (or want to enquire about freelance work) please follow me or direct message me on twitter. I'd love to hear your thoughts: @robhinckley

Will these have images too?

Yes. The images on the cards above are Mayan glyphs and each card will have a glyph on it. The glyph art is original to this project and the designs are based on actual glyphs from actual Mayan monuments. But don't ask us what they say. We select interesting glyphs for their aesthetic, not their meaning. Our apologies to Indiana Jones and any other Mayan epigraphers who might be able to read them.
